The Mandi Sir

 Dear Readers,

I am learning "Business Communication" these days as a core subject at National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai. I come from an engineering background with good english but bad communication skills. Hence I try to improve my communication skills by writing blogs about what we do in the course work of Business Communication class.

Our Professor Dr. T. Prasad, is highly enthusiastic person who puts his full energy to teach the students. The very first day he showed us some videos and discussed what we were supposed to do in the course work, but I'm sure none of us got his point exactly, we were expecting to read books and gain knowledge from theoretical aspect mostly, if not all . That day he kept talking about "Mandi sir" and his tagline is "Socho, Becho, Sikho". In the first class I understood one thing for sure- this guy is going to make us sell some product on streets/market etc. exactly like a salesman knocking doors in a colony and selling products. I have been a critique of sales and let us see how NITIE changes my prejudices about the same over the next two years.

I know I have to become a salesperson if I want to learn this particular subject the way Prof. T. Prasad wants. Our professor's motive is to make us capable of earning, he says a learning without earning is wastage of time and resource. His focus is on the following matters-

1. Students should have very good communication skills, and by this I don't mean fluent english but an impactful voice, be it in any langguage, it should attracts people around you to listen to what you are saying.

2. If I have invested some money somewhere, I must start earning  assoon as possible, utilizing the power of this money.

3. I must not be shy or afraid of anything in the world, I must convey my thoughts to the concerned persons.

4. Develop skills to brand oneself , it maybe blog writing, video making, poster designing etc.

This Prof. whom we have started calling Mandi Sir came out to be a complete bizzare teacher who believed in "doing then learning" rather than "learning then doing."

For the first time I came to know the meaning of 1/12 (ek bata barah) and it's importance in the life of a student, which means A student paying 12 lakhs to an institute to learn a course he/she must earn atleast 1 lakh while learning the course. We were given the task of watching videos of "1/12 Mandi Sir"  on youtube. The link for the channel is- https://www.youtube.com/user/nitieprasad1.

And at last the professor sang a song-

socho becho sikho, bech bech ke sikho.
