Why Online Education
Reason to Move to Online Education
I am a person who has a stronghold on technology, and aspire to have a strong grip over the management field. But my passion lies in education industry. As the world is experiencing an era of transformation, so is the industries of this world, each and every industry be it related to food, healthcare, education, IT, FMCG, manufacturing, coal, power, real state and many more, has got a back hit due to COVID-19.
This pandemic has forced human beings to push their limits further and improve technologically. Today we don't need to get out of our home for any task- people are doing work from home, we order rations and it gets delivered on time, we order clothes, electronics, vegetables etc. we can get everything without stepping out of our homes and live a leisurely life.
If we can get everything at our home itself then why not education?
why do we always stress for offline classes where huge number of germs can get transferred to your children from his classmates and he/she can get severely sick?
If we can give our smartphones, our laptops to our children to play games, then why can we not provide them with the same amenities for studies?
I do not want to shut down the offline system of classes, but I want students and parents to try to switch to online mode of study and enjoy the benefits. I want the teachers and students to be tech-savvy. I want the world to learn to adapt to tough situations like COVID-19 has posed in front of us. I want everybody to be ready to handle such situations as virus spread of this short has become very frequent not to mention few of them in last 50 years--
| VIRUS | INFECTIONS | DEATHS |
| Marberg (1967) | 466 | 373 |
| Ebola* (1976) | 33,577 | 13,562 |
| Hendra (1994) | 7 | 4 |
| H5N1 Bird Flu (1997) | 861 | 455 |
| Nipah (1998) | 513 | 398 |
| SARS (2002) | 8,096 | 774 |
| H1N1** (2009) | 762,630,000 | 284,500 |
| MERS***(2012) | 2,494 | 858 |
| H7N9 Bird Flu (2013) | 1,568 | 616 |
| 2019-nCoV* (2020) | 11,871 | 259 |
*Data taken from statistica.com
The abovementioned details show how dangerous it might be for your children to go to a place of large gatherings everyday.
This is the reason why schools are shut down for offline mode
of study but we can learn from IIMs, IITs, NITIE, and some other technologically advanced institutions how they are rolling out their programs and things are getting back on track in the education system. But more than 50% of schools in India are still left out and they need to follow steps followed by these institutions. People should use technology and start learning again, while the whole is facing a crisis the students and learners should go on and keep fighting the calamities in order to develop an appetite for such unforeseen circumstances.
Cheers!
The whole world is getting digital slowly.
